Get yourself the best possible start in Stand Up Paddling

Learn the basics of how to paddle safely and effectively on a Stand Up Paddle board. Stand Up Paddling is an activity that has grown rapidly around the world in recent years, and we believe you will discover the reason for that after this introduction.

During this introductory course, we will teach you the basics of stand up paddling. We practice paddling technique and board handling. You will also get to try different types of boards, giving you a feel for the different characteristics that different boards have.

As part of this introductory course, you will receive a 10% discount on the regular price of the SUP boards in our range.

For those of you who also want to try whitewater paddling, we have a wide range of whitewater paddling courses.

Courses for all levels

Program

  • Introduction by instructor
  • Fitting and dressing in wetsuits
  • Equipment overview and different boards at the dock
  • Safety briefing
  • Learning how to get back on the board from the water in case of falling in
  • Paddling technique; forward and backward strokes
  • Support technique
  • We paddle downstream from Lissfors on calm waters and practice the different techniques while keeping an eye out for beavers and birdlife.
  • When we return to Kajaktiv, there is an opportunity to relax in our spa area before heading home.

What you need to bring

  • Shoes or sandals to wear down to or in the water
  • Sun hat and sunscreen for warmer days
  • Wool hat for colder days

For whom?

For those who want to try learning the basics of Stand Up Paddling. You should be able to swim. We usually have an age limit of 10 years with a guardian up to 18 years. If there are younger individuals than 10 years who wish to participate in the course, you can contact us.

Find us at Kajaktiv

Kajaktiv is located in the heart of Dalarna, approximately three hours by car from Stockholm and five hours from Gothenburg. For those coming from further away, we can offer overnight accommodation in our course housing. You can also pitch a tent next to our facility if you prefer.

Train and bus connections

You can take the train to Borlänge or Djurås from most major cities in Sweden. From there, you can then take a bus to Dala-Floda. You can also contact us for potential options to be picked up in Djurås.

More than just paddling

We highly recommend that you bring your mountain bike, running shoes, or hiking shoes. Here you will find great trails for both cycling, running, and hiking, and our staff are happy to share their favorites. The village is also worth exploring if you have time, and in direct connection to it, you have Lake Flosjön which invites you for a swim. You can rent a kayak for the day if you want to explore the lake with its beautiful beaches and swimming opportunities.

Normally, all our courses are filled, but for the course to take place, at least four people need to participate. We do our utmost to fill groups if there are missing participants.
